Nuture your child's love for animals and nature with Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium's Zoo Troop programs. These programs use the Zoo as a classroom to encourage children of all ages to investigate, play and learn through hands-on activities and exploration.

Register for a Class
Classes for children up to 3 years of age. Pre-registration and payment is required. An adult must accompany the participant. The registration cost covers one adult and one child. Prices reflect the discount member rate.
Stride into a world of discovery with a fun story to start your adventure then, walk, talk and learn about specific animals. Don't forget the stroller! Registration fee is $8 and includes one adult and one child. This program is geared toward toddlers ages 1 - 2.

I spy with my little eye something…green! Discover all the little things hiding in nature as we explore the world around us.
Rad Reptiles - September 14, 10:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m.
From sticky tongues to scaly bodies come join us and discover why reptiles are so rad!
Bird Bonanza- October 12, 10:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m.
Wonderful Wings Wings flutter and flap and they make things go. Some go high and some go low. Meet animals in this class that have wings!
Rocking Reptiles and Awesome Amphibians - November 9, 10:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m.
They may not be cute and cuddly on the outside, but reptiles and amphibians play a very important role on planet Earth. Join us as we learn about our scaly and slimy skinned friends.
Gather your gear and join our explorers program for 2 to 3-year-old children. We will uncover a wide variety of topics including colors, patterns, shapes, habitats and biomes. Imagine the discoveries that will be made!

Jungle boogie through the Zoo—with a hop, a skip, and a jump, your camper will explore critter moves and grooves! Fanciful footwork, whimsical whirling, and synchronized strutting will highlight some of the Animal Kingdom's greatest performers. It's sure to put a spring in their step!
A-Z Animals - October 19, 10:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m.
From armadillos to zebras and all of the letters in between, campers will learn the alphabet of animals!
Mad about Mammals - November 16, 10:00 a.m.-10:45 a.m.
Some have armor and some have quills. Some have fur and some even have bills!

Through science-based exploration and outdoor play, preschoolers and their caregivers will experience Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium using their senses. Each adventure begins with an opportunity to explore several learning stations based on the adventures theme where children can practice fine motor skills, sensory investigation, creativity, and pre-math and literacy skills. Station time is followed by an opening circle, listening to a story and further exploring the weekly theme.

Learn what it takes to care for animals at the Zoo from the people who do it every day.
Animal Coverings - August 3, 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
Explore furred, feathered, slimy and scaly animal "wrappers." Learn how animal groups are alike or different from each other and how to sort them using clues from their "coverings."
Born to be Wild - September 7, 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
Do all animal babies look like their parents? Which animals hatch from eggs, and which are live-born? This class compares animal babies and development while introducing the basic concepts of life cycles (including metamorphosis) in both invertebrates and vertebrates.
I Like to Move It - October 5, 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
This class looks at various forms of animal locomotion as examples of an adaptation. Hopping, swimming, climbing, flying and slithering animals are just a few of the movements featured. Examine the animals' body parts to discover how and why they move the way they do.
Bump in the Night - November 2 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
Experience Como at night and discover whoooooo-hoooooo is awake. Bump into nocturnal plants and animals while learning about the adaptations they use to survive at night. Come join us for a howling good time!

L.I.O.N. Zoo Troop is a new series-based class where children learn to understand and respect the world around them through exploration and up-close animal encounters. Kids will be challenged to work together, get outside and have fun!
The Biggest and the Smallest Series (ages 5-6 years) – Join us on our next adventure as we learn about some the biggest, smallest, heaviest, tallest and fastest animals of their kind. Endangered Animals & Conservation - Sept. 22, Oct. 20, Nov. 17 10:00 a.m.-Noon
Through activities and investigation, students will learn about threatened species from around the globe, as well as people in Omaha who are working to help them survive. Marine Biology - Dec. 8, Jan. 12, Feb. 9 10:00 a.m.-Noon
Students will be introduced to the ocean and marine life through the Zoo's aquarium and hands-on labs. This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in the field of marine biology or who have had little interaction with the ocean. Family Zoo Adventures are geared toward families with children. Pre-registration and payment of $16 per participant. Animal Artists - July 14, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Grab your easel and join us for this fun class all about animal art! Make your very own animal paintingsm and you may even get to see a Zoo animal try their paws (or scales or toes) at a little masterpiece of their own! Fee: $15 per person (children must be at least 4 years old to attend)
All Aboard the Zoo Train - July 28, 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.
Get a behind-the-scenes look at the Omaha Zoo Railroad. You'll meet a conductor and find out just what it takes to make the train run each day. Cost is $15 per person.
Breakfast Under the Sea - November 10, 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m.
Enjoy breakfast surrounded by sharks, sea turtles and all of your favorite sea creatures! You'll get to explore the Scott Aquarium before Zoo hours and visit ocean experience stations. Cost is $20 per person ($25 per person non member).
